ECOBVC: Environmental sustainability

Green matters to the College community - we harness this passion for the environment to create meaningful change through advocacy and leadership.

ECOBVC is Bow Valley College's (BVC) sustainability committee consisting of 18 staff and faculty College representatives. Our committee identifies, implements, and celebrates environmental best practices at the College that reduce its ecological footprint.

The College has signed two national protocols: the ACCC Pan-Canadian Protocol for Sustainability, and the University and College Presidents' Climate Change Statement of Action for Canada, which commit the College to a role as a sustainability leader.

Fulfilling these commitments will help ECOBVC – and the greater College community – weave sustainability into the fabric of College life for all students, staff, and faculty.

ECOBVC Mission
Advance environmental stewardship and champion a College-wide green culture.

ECOBVC will:

  • Develop and maintain BVC's environmental sustainability strategy and policy
  • Identify and implement environmental sustainability projects
  • Establish baseline measures and benchmarks to track the College's progress
  • Support the infusion of sustainability into the College's curriculum
  • Advance the ecological literacy of staff, faculty, and students
  • Promote internal and external sustainability events/initiatives
  • Host green events
  • Facilitate a series of environmental speaker presentations
  • Celebrate the College's eco champions

Check this page often for green news, resources, event listings, and stories about green champions at the College.

Staff and faculty who have questions, ideas, and stories about green initiatives, or know about upcoming green events are encouraged to email ecobvc@bowvalleycollege.ca
