APAGA

The Alberta Public Agencies Governance Act (APAGA) is supplemented by the Public Agencies Governance Framework and together they provide the legislative and policy framework for Alberta's public sector agencies.

The APAGA requires that all agencies have a publicly available Mandate and Roles Document, a Code of Conduct and a competency-based recruitment process. The APAGA also requires that all agencies be reviewed by the relevant Minister (for Bow Valley College this is the Minister of Advanced Education and Technology) at least every seven years. These processes, and others defined in the policy and legislation, are designed to promote good governance and ensure accountability to Albertans for taxpayer resources.
