It has been
an honour and a pleasure to serve as the Chair of Bow Valley College's
Board of Governors during the 40th anniversary year of this remarkable
institution.
We
have seen the College become increasingly vital to the communities
it serves in educating work-ready graduates. Our College's ability
to meet the needs of both learners and employers is one of our most
unique strengths. We have set the stage for increased capacity in doing
this with our Academic Plan and the funding of our downtown Calgary
campus redevelopment and expansion.
We remain committed to providing learners with life-changing opportunities,
and ensuring Alberta's economy has the skilled workers it needs
to sustain its growth. We will continue to respond to emerging needs
as identified by our partners in business, the community, and government.
I would like to thank our executive team, led by President and CEO
Sharon Carry, for their dedication and commitment in a year that saw
us achieve new heights. Our faculty and staff deserve great thanks
as well, for their passion and commitment to our learners' success.
I would also like to recognize the contributions of my fellow members
on the Board of Governors, in providing leadership, insights, and a
voice for their communities.
The Bow Valley College Annual Report, for the year ended June 30, 2006,
was prepared under the Board’s direction in accordance with the
Government Accountability Act (the “Act”) and ministerial
guidelines pursuant to the Act. All material economic, environmental,
or fiscal implications of which I am aware have been considered in
preparation of this report.
