Applied Research at Bow Valley College
Applied Research produces practical results with application to real world situations.
At Bow Valley College, faculty and staff engage in Applied Research to improve learning
and teaching in adult education in the classroom, workplace, and the community.
As a Learning College, BVC is committed to Applied Research as part of its goal to
provide quality education to learners and partners in business, government and the community.
Working in collaboration with a variety of community services agencies, business and industry
partners, government and post-secondary organizations, Bow Valley College is involved in the
development of the communities it serves.
Bow Valley College is committed to building capacity among faculty and staff to engage in
Applied Research. The Applied Research Office provides faculty and staff with information and
professional development opportunities in Applied Research, assists with proposal/grant applications
and Ethics Review process, manages the BVC Applied Research Internal Grant Fund, maintains records
of Applied Research activities, and promotes BVC Applied Research projects.
Bow Valley College’s particular areas of Applied Research interest and expertise include:
adult literacy, curriculum development, ESL literacy essential skills, Test of Workplace Essential Skills,
and health and human services.
