Getting Started

Find out what awards are available at Bow Valley College. Search the BVC Awards  by using the drop-down filters to view all awards including application and nomination based awards.

The Nomination

Who can nominate a learner?
Any Bow Valley College employee that has a computer login can access their personalized awards portal and nominate a learner.

How are award selections made?
The selection committee requires examples of how the nominee best exemplifies the award requirements.

When can I nominate a learner?
You can nominate anytime, but remember that your nominee must fit the award criteria at the deadline date.

Four easy steps to nominate a learner!

  1. Login to the Awards Portal
  2. Click on your "Nomination List"
  3. Click on the award of interest
  4. Click on "Nominate Now"

How do I fill in the nomination form?

  1. Enter the nominee's student ID number. Click on "Enter" 
  2. Provide details of your nomination in the text box.
  3. Click on "Add Student" to validate your nomination.  If you want to nominate more than one learner for the same award, simply follow steps 1 to 3. You can nominate more than one learner for the same nomination form!
  4. Click on the checkbox to accept the conditions for your nomination and click on "Submit Nomination"

    After You Submit Your Nomination

    1. Your nominee will receive an automated MyBVC email notification of their nomination. Your name and comments are not viewed by the nominee. Nominees are required to complete their portion of the nomination online (their financial situation, their family situation etc.) before the deadline date has passed to qualify. A selection committee is formed to select award recipient(s) within 40 days after the award deadline has passed.
    2. Recipients receive a MyBVC email notification stating their award earnings.

      What is my Role with Application Based Awards?

      While application-based awards are designed for learners to apply independently, many application forms ask for letters of reference as supporting documentation.

      Award Tip #2: If you are asked to provide a letter of reference, remember to review the awards eligibility and selection criteria to provide specific details about the learner in reference to the award. Learners are required to attach their supporting documents online. Providing learners with a signed letter of reference via email is a great way to support learners!

      The Online Learner Application Form

      Familiarity with the student awards application form will allow you to help a learner apply for an award that may change their life at the College.

      Section 1: Personal Information
      When learners apply online through the Awards Portal, Learner's personal information is populated by Agresso automatically in their application form. Example: address, telephone number, student ID number, citizenship. Learners are required to enter their marital status, number of children (if applicable), their current funding option, and their program details.

      Section 2: Academic Information
      Provided that the learner has their grades available on Agresso, their academic information is populated on their application form automatically. 
      Award tip #3: Posting academic marks in Agresso is  important to assist in the decision making process by the selection committee members. Entering marks on Agresso as soon as they are available is an asset for your learners!

      Section 3: Awards Criteria Questions
      Each selection criteria will have a question for the applicant. To learn more about each criterion, the Awards Guidelines provides details for each selection criteria.

      Section 4: Supporting Documents
      This section allows applicants to upload letter of references and additional information.
