The Advanced Search option in the LLC catalogue allows you to:
- Search various record fields at the same time.
- Select Boolean operators: and, or, and not.
- Limit your search by specifying the language, the format (DVD, VHS...), the date of publication and the location of the material you are searching.
First access the LLC catalogue then click on Advanced search.
Use the left dropdown menu to select the fields you want to search and the right dropdown menu to select the boolean operator desired.
Enter the words you want to search in the Search for box, then limit you search by language, format, publication year ..., then click Search.
The catalogue will retrieve the records that has all the words you entered in the fields specified.
In the example Above, we are searching a DVD of the author Roger McTair entitled "Journey of justice" and published on 2006.
Search tips:
- When the catalogue doesn't find a match to the words you entered, it will propose to you a number of closest matches. You can either click on one of the subjects proposed or go back and search with other words.
- Avoid using the internet explorer's back button and use the Go Back button in the left side of the LLC catalogue screen.
- Avoid using words such as "and", "is", "for", "to", "of"...
- Use the truncation symbol $ to search for various forms of a word. Type child$ to search for child, children and childhood.
