Library Card
You require a library card to borrow library materials and to check out Reserve items.
Your BVC student ID card is your library card. If you don't have a student ID card, please go to the Registrar's Office.
Your library card allows you to borrow library materials from Bow Valley College, University of Calgary, St. Mary's University College, and Ambrose University College. You are also eligible, as a Bow Valley College student, to receive a free TAL card.

Returns and recalls
There are three ways to renew your borrowed library materials:
- In-person: in the LLC at North Campus
- By Phone: 403-410-1647
- Online: using 'My Account'
You will not be able to renew your library materials if you receive one of the following messages:
- This item has a hold on it.
- Your borrowing privileges have expired.

Every student, staff and faculty with borrowing privileges has a library account called 'My Account'.
My Account allows you to:
- Check the due dates of your borrowed library items.
- Renew library items.
- Check fines owing on your account.
- Verify and/or cancel holds.
- Change your PIN number.

| Books, Videos, DVDs, & CDs: | $1 per day per item |
| Reserve items: | $1 per hour per item |
- Once you have fines, your borrowing privileges are suspended until fines are paid in full.
- An item overdue for 15 days is assumed lost and you will be charged the $15 overdue fine, cost of the replacement book, and a $15 processing fee.
- Lost library materials: you will be charged the cost of the replacement material, $15 processing fee, and any late fees associated with the item.

TAL Borrowers
The Alberta Library (TAL) Card allows you to borrow resources from any library in the province of Alberta that is participating in this initiative. Libraries include academic, public, and special libraries. Each participating library sets their own policies and procedures.
- Register for a TAL card at your home library.
- TAL borrowers must present their TAL card, a picture ID, and proof of address when borrowing items from Bow Valley College's library.
- Borrowed materials can be returned to any library participating in TAL.
- Each TAL library sets its own loan policies and restrictions.
Bow Valley College's TAL loan policies
- Books from the general collection only.
- Limit of 5 books at the time.
- 2 week loan period.
- No renewals.
- Overdue fines are $1 per day per item.

Other Academic Institutions
Staff, faculty, and students from the following institutions are able to borrow library materials from Bow Valley College. They must present valid staff or student ID from their institution at the time of borrowing.
