Using Blackboard Mail


What is Blackboard Mail?

 

The mail in Blackboard allows you to send and receive mail messages privately from your instructor and from other students that are registered in the same Blackboard class. Blackboard mail is specific to the course(s) that you are registered in.

Where do I find the Blackboard Mail in my course?

The mail can be found on the Course Tools menu located on the left hand side of the course Homepage. Mail can also be found at the top of your course Homepage.

Here is an example of an image that represents Blackboard Mail:

The image below represents your Mail in your Blackboard course. It is an envelope that is open.

Mail Icon

This image below indicates that you have received new mail from your instructor or another student. The mail envelope will be open and will display a green box with a white star beside it. This indicates that you have received new mail.

When you access your Blackboard mail you will notice that you have four folders. The folders are located on the left hand side of your mail Inbox.

Each of the folders are used for different types of messages. These are listed in the table below.

Inbox

The Inbox is where you will find new mail messages that you have received.

Sent Mail

The Sent Mail is where you will find the mail messages that you have sent to other people.

Drafts

The Drafts is where you can store a mail message temporarily before sending it to someone.

Deleted Mail

The Deleted Mail is where you will find all of the mail messages that you have deleted from your mail.
