CAREERS IN BUSINESS


Business Administration Diploma

The Business Administration Diploma prepares you for a wide array of employment opportunities in the world of business.  The diploma consists of a common first year to give you a strong base in general business skills and knowledge. In the second year, specialize in one of the following areas:

Accounting: This specialization focuses on giving you the accounting
knowledge and skills you need to excel in the accounting profession.

Financial Services: This specialization gives you the skills required to
assume a position at a bank or other financial institution.

General: This specialization gives you the opportunity to take a variety
of business courses.

CHECKLIST

Admission Requirements:

Refer to Admissions Procedures for Full-Time Programs on page 8 for
further clarification.
• Credit in English 30-1 or 30-2 or equivalent
• Credit in Grade 12 Math: Math 30 (Pure or Applied) or equivelant
OR:
• Successful completion of the General Equivalency Development
test (GED) with a standard score of 520 in Language Arts:
Reading and Writing and 550 in Math
OR:
• Satisfactory results on the BVC Admissions Test

Additional Admission Requirements

• All applicants must be bondable.
• International Applicants or Applicants Educated Outside of Canada
• English language profi ciency can be demonstrated by any one of:
• Achievement of a TOEFL score of 527 – 530 on the paper-based
test, a score of 197 on the computer-based test, or a score of 71
on the internet-based test (iBT)
• Achieving an IELTS (International English Language Testing System)
score of 5.5
• Successful completion of the English for Academic Purposes 3
(EAP 3) program at Bow Valley College with a grade of B
• Obtain satisfactory results on the BVC Admissions Test

Math requirement can be demonstrated by one of the following:

• Obtain satisfactory results on the BVC Admissions Test
• English transcripts showing equivalent level Math completion
• Additional Admission Requirements are same as above

Transferability

Graduates of this program may be accepted into:

• Athabasca University – Bachelor of Management, Bachelor of
Commerce post diploma program or Bachelor of Professional Arts –
Communication Studies
• University of Lethbridge – Transfer agreement into the Bachelor
of Management
• St. Mary’s University College-Transfer agreement into the Bachelor of Arts

Transfer credits are also available from:
