Out-Of-School Programming For School-Age Children Certificate - Part-Time

This Certificate prepares you to work with five to 14-year old children in childcare, recreation and community centres, and other group settings. Develop the skills and understanding to facilitate relevant, age-appropriate programs and activities for school-age children, and understand operational functions such as health and safety standards, policies and records. Courses within the program are available through part-time studies
(evenings and weekends) and online.

Online Learning

All courses in the Out-of-School Programming for School Age Children
Certificate are available online. Registration for online courses is
ongoing. Courses start the first Monday of each month.

Academic Requirements:

Refer to Admissions Procedures for Full-Time Programs on page 8
for further clarification.

• Credit in English 30-1 or 30-2 or equivalent
OR:
• Successful completion of the General Equivalency Development
test (GED) with a standard score of 520 in Language Arts:
Reading and Writing
OR:
• Satisfactory results on the BVC Admissions Test

Transferability

Some transfer credit is available from related programs in:

• Child and Youth Care
