Directions for Immigrants

Directions for Immigrants is a no-cost service centre that helps Internationally educated professionals secure professional employment and gain accreditation. We work with professionals in any occupation, any industry. Our services include:

CAREER RESOURCE CENTRE

All the resources you need to conduct your job search including computers with Internet access.

WORKSHOPS

Learn how to be effective and build your network to find the job you are searching for through our on-going workshops. Our resource centre and workshops are open to anyone pursuing employment or accreditation.

CAREER COACHING

Work with a career coach to develop an action plan to obtain your employment goals. Career coaches provide valuable advice, support, and help to keep you motivated in your job search. For immigrant professionals to be eligible for career coaching support, you must:

  • Be an immigrant professional with a degree, diploma, or trade certificate from another country
  • Have two years of experience in your profession or trade outside of Canada
  • Have a minimum Language Benchmark level of 6

For immigrant health professionals to be eligible for career coaching support, you need to:

  • Be an immigrant professional with a degree, diploma, or trade certificate from another country
  • Have a minimum Language Benchmark level of 6

STUDY GROUPS

Study groups help you prepare for licensing exams required to attain your professional certification. We currently offer study groups for internationally educated nurses, pharmacists, physicians, medical laboratory technologists, engineers, geologists and geophysicists. Improve your communication skills through our Job Success Groups on Clear Communication for Business and Clear Communication for Health Professionals.
