The International Education Department brings those programs and services to international learners as well as opportunities for domestic students desiring international experience through a growing selection of internship and study-abroad opportunities.
Excellent Reputation
Located in the core of downtown Calgary, Bow Valley College is a widely recognized public institution in Calgary. We are the largest English as a Second Language provider with more than 650 international students enrolled per year. Our teachers have a reputation for excellence in teaching and for accommodating individual student needs.
Intensive ESL Program
The International ESL program is an 8-week intensive program offering 9 different levels, from the basic to advanced. Students are assessed on the first day of the class and placed according to their test results. More over, students who successfully complete the highest level (EAP) with a "B" can continue to study in the academic programs at Bow Valley College. Students who graduate from our EAP program with a B+ also can continue the academic programs at SAIT, DeVry, and the University of Lethbridge.
Options for ESL Learners
Besides the ESL program, Bow Valley College offers intensive TOFEL and IELTS courses for students who would like to pursue a degree in an English speaking country. We offer morning and afternoon IELTS courses and evening TOFEL courses. We also are an official test center for TOFEL.

Shortcut to Success
If your english is upper intermediate to advanced level, you may consider our International Academic Preparation program as the other option to your academic study. This 3 month preparation course will help you to get industry specific english skills and ends with an IELTS exam, which is the entry requirement for Immigration Canada and most universities and colleges in Canada. With a sufficient IELTS score, students can join one of the Bow Valley academic programs or move on to a program of interest at another university or college.
Life Experience in Canada
More than regular class lectures, we are pleased to introduce international students about the culture and lifestyle in Calgary or Canada through social and cultural activities. All these activities are incorporated into the program through classroom activities, scheduled events and weekly newsletters. We also host workshops and seminars to help students get more information about how to pursue post-secondary education in Canada, get post-secondary work
permit, and other life or learning related issues.
