The purpose of the International Academic Preparation (IAP) program is to
prepare International students for their future education at Bow
Valley College and beyond. The duration of this course is 11
weeks, with 20 hours of class time per week. During this time
period, students will study a variety of content, including
IELTS preparation, Academic English, pronunciation, and a
one-credit course named College Success.
This program is suitable for international students with an
upper-intermediate to advanced knowledge of English.
Students who enroll in this program will take an official IELTS exam, at no extra cost, upon completion of the program. An IELTS score is accepted as an English proficiency assessment for academic study in many English speaking countries, and is a required document for immigrating to Canada. Citizenship and Immigration Canada accepts both the general and academic IELTS scores as proof of English proficiency.
Student graduates from this program will enter their post-secondary studies well prepared for their future academic and employment roles
