Pay for Print Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What is Pay for Print?
Pay for Print is the fees for printing/photocopying in the LLC. It will cost 5¢ per side.

When does Pay for Print start?
Pay for Print begins in January 2010.

Why does the LLC now use Pay for Print?
Hopefully to reduce the amount of paper being wasted.

Don't my tuition fees pay for printing?
No: Pay for Print cards and printing costs are not included in your tuition fees.

What are benefits of Pay for Print?

  • Reduce the amount of paper waste.
  • Reduce the waste of ink.
  • Reducing the total amount of printing will help prevent frequent printer breakdowns.
  • More environmentally friendly.

How much does printing cost?
5¢ per side.

How do I pay for printing?
You will purchase a reloadable Pay for Print card for $1.00 from North Campus or Franklin Station Campus LLC. The Pay for Print card you purchase will have $1.00 loaded on it and will be ready to use.

Once you have a card you can load more money on it at the North Campus and/or Franklin Station Campus LLC using cash, debit, or credit card. You may also add money to your Pay for Print card online, using a credit card at the following link: https://www.bowvalleycollege.ca/itc.

How much money can I add at a time?
The minimum amount is $1.00; the maximum amount is $10.00.

What if I only need to print/photocopy one page?
You will still need a Pay for Print card which will cost $1.00.

How can I check the balance on my Pay for Print card?
You can check your Pay for Print card balance online at https://www.bowvalleycollege.ca/itc, or ask the library staff at the circulation desk to check for you.

What if I lose my Pay for Print card?
The card is like cash. Once it's gone, it's gone; you have to buy a new card. There are no refunds or cash back for lost, stolen or misused cards.

What happens if I print the wrong document? Will I be charged? Can I get a refund?
If you print the wrong document, you will still be charged for number of pages printed. It is your responsibility to check the document before you send it to the printer. There are no refunds.

How long are the print jobs held at release station?
15 minutes; once you've sent the print job to the release station, you will have 15 minutes to print your document. Print jobs are deleted automatically after 15 minutes.

I just sent a print job to a release station and now I don't want it. What should I do?
Nothing. Print jobs are automatically deleted from the print queue after 15 minutes, if the user does not release them.

If you've sent multiple documents to be printed and now don't want one of them, be sure you select the document you do need as you will be charged for pages printed.

How can I minimize my printing costs?

  • Preview document using Print Preview feature.
  • Edit your document and print only the final version of document.
  • Print at home, if an option.
  • Print 6 slides per page when printing a Powerpoint presentation.
  • Save documents to a flash drive and/or email them to yourself.
  • Avoid printing email if possible.
  • Use email to send web links to yourself.
  • Copy needed text from a webpage and paste into a word document.

What paper sizes are available for printing?
You can only print 8.5"x 11" in the LLC.

Can I photocopy documents?
Yes, you will pay 5¢ per side and will be required to use your Pay for Print card.

Can I use my card anywhere else in the college?
No. The Pay for Print system is used at the North Campus and Franklin Station Campus LLC only.
