BVC’s move to South Campus

The move from North Campus and Rocky Mountain Plaza to South Campus is less than one year away for numerous departments across the College.

Bernard Benning, BVC's Vice-president of Campus Development, and Robert Majamaa from Duke Projects recently held a Brown Bag Lunch to present the moving plans to staff and faculty and answer their questions.

"Our mandate is to begin teaching in South Campus at the start of the January 2, 2013 winter term," says Robert, who is overseeing the move of staff, faculty, and furniture into South Campus.

Core services such as building operators, security and cleaning will be operational by December 6, 2012. The Bookstore will be closed for operations at North Campus on December 4, 2012. Over the following two days, it will be relocated and reopened at South Campus on December 7, 2011.

The Registrar's Office and the Prospective Student's Centre will begin operations in their new spaces on the first floor of South Campus by December 7, 2012. Learner Success Services, Health Services and Assistive Technology will follow and open their doors during the period December 10-17, 2012.

Food Services and the cafeteria, as well as Tim Hortons will move into new spaces on the second floor and on the main floor of South Campus at the LRT platform entrance, respectively. They will be open for business at the start of the winter term on January 2, 2013.

BVC's post-secondary partners the University of Lethbridge and Olds College will also be able to move on to floors six and seven, respectively, by the end of December 2012.

Furniture will also be moved in to classrooms and office spaces in December 2012 in preparation for the start of the winter 2013 term.

January 8 - 11, 2013

  • Aboriginal programming moves to the second floor of South Campus

January 9 - 11, 2013

  • Continuing Education moves to the second floor of South Campus

January 21 - 23, 2013

  • College Advancement (Fund Development, Events, and Marketing and Communications) moves to the third floor of South Campus
  • Executive Offices moves to the third floor of South Campus

January 24 - 25, 2013

  • Business and Industry Offices moves to the fifth floor of South Campus

January 30 - February 2, 2013

  • Human Resources moves to the third floor of South Campus

February 11 - 13, 2013

  • Finance moves to the third floor of South Campus

Once the College begins the transition process to South Campus, the final stage of BVC's expansion project, Phase IIB, will commence at North Campus.

Another Brown Bag Lunch will be held in N231 on February 13, 2012, from 11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. to present Phase IIB of BVC's campus expansion, which involves further renovations to lower three floors of the North Campus.
