BVC board’s new Staff Representative

Bow Valley College's Board of Governors bid farewell to its staff representative, Victoria Chio, recently and appointed a new member to take her place.

Vicky served on the board from June 2011 to January 2012. She has left the board due to her new position as the College's Alumni and Learner Services Coordinator.

Joanne Stalinski, Chair of BVC's Board of Governors (right), gave Vicky a parting gift for her service on the board.

"Serving on the board was a great learning opportunity," says Vicky. "It gave me the opportunity to engage in our campus community even more by attending graduation, taking part in the Board of Governor's retreat, attending various Vision 2020 sessions, and participating as a voting member at Academic Council."

"I am unable to be staff representative on the board due to my new role as Alumni and Learner Services, but the experience has really inspired to me to volunteer more in the future."

Replacing Vicky as the Staff Representative on the board is Candace Cummings, Media Development Team Lead, who has been with the College for close to seven years and currently works in the Learner Resource Services.

Candace works with a team of specialists responsible for the development of online curriculum and the creation of video, audio, and interactive activities that increase course engagement and learning. She has helped to create 14 of the 17 BVC programs offered online through eCampusAlberta.
