Literacy

Lifeline to Literacy (Basic)

This program will help you read, write and do math. You can also learn skills to use at work. Practice writing messages, reading instructions, and solving everyday math questions. A literacy facilitator and trained tutors work with you in this class.

Intermediate Literacy

This program assists individuals in developing basic reading and writing skills by working one-on-one with a volunteer tutor.

Speech-Assisted Reading and Writing (SARAW)

SARAW is a talking computer program that teaches basic reading, writing and math skills. This computer program is for adults who are reading and writing at levels between beginners and Grade 6. The course is designed for adults who have physical or developmental disabilities. Accompanying support workers are trained as tutors to help with all aspects of the course. Tutors may be supplied for students who do not have a support worker.

Adult Basic Literacy Education (ABLE)

This non-credit course will assist you to gain reading and writing skills that can help you enter Academic Preparation level 2 Reading and Writing courses. A literacy facilitator and a trained volunteer tutor work with you in this class.  ABLE is for adults reading at Grade levels 2-4, and is appropriate for adults with disabilities as well as mainstream students.
