Events Management Diploma

Organizing a meeting, trade show or conference, or throwing a corporate party requires many special skills and abilities. This full-time program will provide you with the practical skills and knowledge to successfully plan, organize, manage, promote, and evaluate special events. Learn how to effectively work in a business environment in a variety of roles associated with event planning. You may be eligible for Scholarships awarded by the AHLA to support the training of individuals working in the hospitality industry!

Bow Valley College students currently enrolled in Events Management Diploma Program for 2012/2013 and also students registered for Global Tourism or Events Management Diplomas 2012/2013 may apply to the AHLA for an industry scholarship; maximum amount awarded per student is $2500.00 per year (January 01-December 31).

Admission requirements

Academic Requirements

  • Minimum final mark of 60% in English 20-1 or credit in English 30-2 or equivalent
  • Minimum final mark of 60% in Applied or Pure Math 10 or equivalent (excluding the 10-4 and 16 levels)

OR:

  • Successful completion of the General Equivalency Development test (GED) with a standard score of 520 in Language Arts: Reading and Writing and 450 in Math

OR:

  • Satisfactory results on the BVC Admissions Test

Transferability

A transfer agreement has been established with:

  • Athabasca University - Bachelor of Professional Arts  (Communication Studies)
  • Royal Roads University - BA International Hotel Management
  • University of Calgary - Graduates of two-year BVC diploma programs will be awarded up to 5 full course junior open options

Some transfer credits are available to:

  • Thompson Rivers University - Bachelor of Tourism Management Degree
  • Canadian Tourism Human Resource Council (CTHRC) - Students may write the Emerit Certification Exam

Students may be eligible for a Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR) for some courses the program.
