No, counselling is confidential. What you discuss during sessions is between you and your counsellor. It can't be shared without your permission. But there are some exceptions to this. Your counsellor will talk to you about these in your first meeting.

No! Students use counselling for many different reasons. It's about solving problems and making things better in your life.

People often see a counsellor when they feel sad, angry, lonely, stressed, or scared.

Counsellors are here to talk about anything you need help with. This may include personal issues or concerns like:

  • depression
  • anxiety
  • abuse
  • addiction
  • academic and career goals
  • couple and family problems
  • financial issues
  • personal growth and development
  • problems with peers
Being in crisis means you feel like to you need to talk someone right away and cannot wait until the next day for an appointment. If you're in crisis, call 403-410-1440 during office hours. We will do our best to see you as soon as possible.

Registered students at Bow Valley College, currently living in Alberta can access in person, video and telephone counselling with a BVC counsellor. If you are a registered student living outside of Alberta please email counselling@bowvalleycollege.ca to see alternate options.

 

Counselling is free of charge for Bow Valley students.
Counselling is in Learner Success Services. You'll find us on the main floor of the downtown south campus.
