Bow Valley College to honour community and business leaders with Honorary Diplomas
June 11, 2026 (Calgary, AB) – Bow Valley College is proud to announce two Honorary Diploma recipients who will be recognized at Spring Convocation 2026, taking place June 17 and 18 at the Jack Singer Concert Hall in Calgary.
This year’s recipients — brothers Mohamed and Shiraz Ali, founders of SM2 Capital Partners, and Pam McGladdery, President and CEO of URSA(Universal Rehabilitation Service Agency) — have each made extraordinary contributions to their communities and to the mission of Bow Valley College.
On June 17, brothers Mohamed and Shiraz Ali, founders ofSM2 Capital Partners, will receive their Honorary Diplomas. The Ali brothers’ success story started with humble beginnings in a small village in Tanzania, where they lived in poverty but worked through hardship, political unrest and threats of persecution — eventually finding their way to Canada. In 1973, the brothers founded SM2 Capital Partners, building and diversifying their businesses over more than 25 years. In 2024, Bow Valley College opened the Ali Family Intercultural Centre in recognition of a generous gift supporting efforts to remove financial barriers and make education more accessible for all.
On June 18, Pam McGladdery, President and CEO of URSA(Universal Rehabilitation Service Agency), will receive her Honorary Diploma. At URSA, McGladdery works to develop and provide opportunities for individuals with disabilities to attain a personal level of achievement and excellence in life. She has been an influential supporter of Bow Valley College for more thana decade, partnering closely with both the School of Community Studies and the School of Health and Wellness, strengthening student learning, practicum opportunities, and community engagement.
“We are pleased to award Mohamed, Shiraz and Pam, Bow Valley College’s highest honour in recognition of all they’ve done for the community.”
