
Annette Matte is a multi-disciplinary educator with deep expertise in mental health, psychology, and youth development. With a BSc in Psychology, BEd in secondary social studies, MA in counselling, and MEd in college education and leadership, Matte brings both formal credentials and lived experience to her teaching. A certified K-12 teacher with expertise across social studies, humanities, nutrition, physical education, and health sciences, she has also written courses for distance learning schools. As a certified ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) facilitator in southern Alberta, Matte is actively engaged in suicide prevention and mental health awareness. Matte's personal and professional passion centers on reducing stigma around mental health and fostering a sense of mattering among adult learners. Her interests in developmental psychology and role as a hockey parent inform her relatable, authentic teaching approach. Beyond the classroom, she serves as a Research Ethics Board member, assists with faculty professional development, and participates in college-wide planning committees. She offers thoughtful perspectives on youth mental health, cyberbullying, psychologically supportive college environments, and innovative approaches to authentic learning design.
