About

Maria Manese is a certified Healthcare Simulation Educator and nursing leader with specialized expertise in geriatrics and nursing education. With Bachelor of Science degrees in Biology and Nursing, plus a Master's in Nursing Administration and Management, Maria brings both clinical and educational excellence to her role. Her international experience includes work as RN/charge nurse at St. Luke's Medical Center in the Philippines, the first institution accredited by Joint Commission International in that country, providing valuable insights into internationally educated healthcare professionals' transition to Canadian practice. Her research has been recognized nationally, including selection as the only community college research from Canada for the Sigma International Honor Society conference. Current research focuses on virtual reality in nursing education, gaps in nursing competencies in mental health and addictions, and innovative simulation activities including mock trials for nursing ethics. As a member of the Canadian College of Health Leaders and active in Sigma International Honor Society, Maria offers expert commentary on nursing education, healthcare simulation, international healthcare professional integration, and continuing care standards.
