This no-cost, part-time program supports rural immigrants in building communication and soft skills while learning more about Canadian workplace culture. Over a few weeks, you'll take part in online lessons, activities, and tasks about important topics such as:
- Canadian culture in the workplace,
- communication and soft skills,
- digital literacy,
- career and employment strategies,
- teamwork, collaboration, and problem solving, and
- community connections.
You will be matched with a mentor and will meet regularly to discuss and better understand these topics.
You'll learn important skills for communication, working with others, leadership, problem solving, good work habits, time management, and teamwork - skills Canadian employers want.
Time Commitment:
- Duration of the program: 16 weeks
- Participant/mentee: approximately 16 to 18 hours online and 12 to 16 hours in person
- Mentor: approximately 8 hours online and 12 to 16 hours in person

A mentee is a motivated learner who gains skills and insights from a mentor.
Applicants must be immigrants legally authorized to work in Canada, including:
- Permanent Residents
- Refugees
- Naturalized Canadian Citizens
Individuals with temporary statuses (e.g., CUAET, work, study, or visitor visas) are not eligible for this program.
Applicants must also meet the following criteria:
- Possess intermediate English language skills (approximately CLB 5 or higher)
- Reside in rural Alberta (excluding Calgary and Edmonton)
- Completed some post-secondary education or related work experience in their field or chosen occupation
