Members of the Bow Valley College community have created working definitions for equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility terms, which continue to evolve.

What does Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion mean at Bow Valley College?

• Equity is about ensuring the well-being and positive experiences of both students and staff on campus. It means ensuring that everyone, regardless of background, feels supported and has a fair opportunity to succeed. Equity is about removing barriers and creating equal opportunities in the classroom, in the workplace, and across campus.

• Diversity involves building a community that is representative, trustworthy, and inclusive, particularly for equity-deserving groups. It is achieved by taking meaningful action to address inequities and by supporting the unique needs of all individuals.
• Inclusion means creating an environment where everyone feels respected, valued, and supported. It is fostered through actions that tackle inequities and ensure equal access to opportunities and resources for everyone.

Our campus is home to a variety of inclusive spaces and committees that are dedicated to promoting equity and supporting all students. Whether you’re seeking a quiet, reflective space or a supportive community, we have you covered.

Our Multifaith Room provides a peaceful, neutral space for spiritual practice and reflection. The Gender and Sexual Diversity Hub is a safe, inclusive environment for students to connect, learn, and share experiences. Our PRIDE Committee plays a crucial role in organizing events and initiatives that support and celebrate the 2SLGBTQ+ community.  The Ali Family Intercultural Centre provides opportunities for all students to take part in events, activities and workshops that foster respect, inclusion, creativity, teamwork and resilience.

But it doesn’t stop there! At Bow Valley College, we make learning about equity, diversity, and inclusion fun with events, workshops, and activities that raise awareness and promote a more inclusive campus culture.
