Bow Valley College received an Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) Applied Research Tools and Instruments (ARTI) grant to acquire and integrate motion capture technology into our new Digital Entertainment Nexus. Motion capture tech is pivotal in recording and digitizing human movements in various fields, including gaming, filmmaking, and sports science.
It enhances BVC’s research capabilities in creating lifelike digital twins, improving user immersion in digital environments, and analyzing athlete biomechanics.
This technology gives students in the Centre for Entertainment Arts and the School of Technology skills needed in the creative industries that link theoretical learning with practical application. This project represents a significant advancement in BVC’s applied research and training capacity, helping to drive growth in Canada’s creative sectors.
