Capstone Project

MMPR9108

Course Description

Through the application of the key learning elements from the previous seven MMP modules students apply the principles, concepts and techniques to a final project. Participants will select an integrated project that demonstrates alignment of business drivers and improvement opportunities with managing and maintaining assets, equipment, processes, and personnel.

The project must address an issue in which the participant is both familiar and can be applied (or) implemented in an actual workplace, ideally that of the participant. A primary objective of a Capstone project is that on successful completion, each participant will have the relevant and documented information and possess the confidence to present it to management. The project selected can be business focused such as development of or improvement to their maintenance strategy or maintenance business processes, or resolution of a significant maintenance issue, or the project can have a technical focus such as justification of replacement or upgrade of equipment, purchase of improved diagnostic equipment, etc.

All previous modules are prerequisites for this course. The assessment of the Capstone projects is intended to qualify participants for obtaining their MMP designation.

Participants apply what they learned in the previous seven modules. Working in small groups, participants will select a project that will:

  1. audit, assess, and improve their current maintenance department, or
  2. develop a new maintenance strategy in their company, or
  3. resolve a significant maintenance issue within their department.

There is also the option of developing a “Greenfield” maintenance strategy and program. This option requires instructor approval.

Successful completion of this course prepares participants for the Maintenance Management Professional certification and designation.

Please note, participants enrolled in any module are eligible for a 1 year complimentary PEMAC membership.
