“To be among the incredible individuals honoured with this medal is truly inspiring,” says Dr. Misheck Mwaba. “It is a privilege to give back to Canada through higher education, but also through service on local boards and committees.”

Dr. Mwaba is Bow Valley College’s sixth President and CEO. In July 2024, the Government of Alberta appointed him as its Foreign Credential Advisory Committee chair.

Dr. Mwaba is currently serving as a director on the following boards: Calgary Chamber of Commerce, Vertigo Theatre, and Windmill Microlending. He previously served as a council member of the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC).

In 2022, Dr. Mwaba was awarded a Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal.
