September 11, 2026 (Calgary, AB) – Funding provided through Advanced Education Alberta will allow Bow Valley College to expand the number of seats offered in Addiction Studies, Educational Assistant and Early Childhood Education programs.
The Targeted Enrolment Expansion initiative focuses on applied skills and workforce alignment, aimed at sectors with high labour demand. The $1.7million in funding will allow Bow Valley College to offer an additional 115 seats in high-demand health and education fields for 2026-27, and totalling nearly 400 additional seats through 2028-29.
“These are program areas with significant demand, both from students and employers in our province,” says Leah Wack, Dean of Arts, Sciences, and Community Studies at Bow Valley College. “Our graduates go straight to work in Alberta communities, supporting safer, brighter futures for people of all ages.”

As part of Budget 2026, the province announced in February that $501 million would be available over three years to support high-demand post-secondary spaces at Alberta institutions.

The TEE initiative is part of Alberta’s broader Alberta at Work strategy, aimed at aligning post-secondary education with provincial workforce needs.
