Sustaining momentum to advance and evolve Calgary’s college: Dr. Misheck Mwaba is reappointed as Bow Valley College President and CEO

September 2, 2025

We are proud to announce the reappointment of Dr. Misheck Mwaba as Bow Valley College President and CEO for a second five-year term, effective November 1, 2025. Under Dr. Mwaba's leadership, the college has grown and expanded our academic and research footprint while establishing new programs and learning spaces, including the Centre for Entertainment Arts, Esports Arena, and Production Hub, and expanding health programming. His commitment to fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment has been instrumental in leading the college community through post-pandemic recovery, navigating hybrid work and flexible online learning modalities, organizational change, and significant enrolment challenges in the post-secondary sector.

“Misheck has demonstrated exceptional leadership and dedication to Bow Valley College, driving significant advancements in our academic and operational excellence while leading the college towards the new Launch | Advance | Evolve Strategic Plan. Misheck’s vision for education, the future of work, and credential recognition is foundational to his drive for academic innovation and making all learning count. He has led the college through unrelenting economic and sector challenges, and I am confident he will strategically guide the college into the future.” – John Kousinioris, Chair, Bow Valley College Board of Governors.

Since his presidential term started in November 2020, several brand-new, tech-forward learning spaces opened on campus, creating opportunities for students, employers, and community partners to come together.

Building on our long history of delivering health programming and applied research, new virtual reality spaces, accredited simulation labs, and state-of-the-art classrooms have enabled students and faculty to learn and conduct research in a collaborative environment.

As providing both an exceptional student and employee experience is the bedrock of the college’s Launch | Advance | Evolve Strategic Plan, creating an inclusive and vibrant learning and work environment continues to be a top priority for Misheck, stating, “We are Calgary’s college. With over 15,000 students and 1,200 employees in our college community, we strive to have every student graduate into a thriving career and for every employee to come to work living their values and feeling a sense of belonging. Our students and employees are the heart of Bow Valley College.

I am deeply grateful to the Board of Governors for their continued guidance and trust in my stewardship of the college’s strategic direction. I see a bold and bright future for Bow Valley College and look forward to evolving together.”
