Dr. Lisa Beuker is a biology instructor and researcher with a PhD in Immunology and Microbiology, specializing in bacterial biofilms and human disease mechanisms. Her published research focuses on bacterial communication systems that enable infections, combining her expertise in genetics, evolution, microbiome, and immunology. With additional background in health psychology through her BSc in Psychology, Dr. Beuker brings a holistic approach to understanding the intersection of biology and human behavior. Her experience includes research with Alberta Health Services on improving patient outcomes and addressing mental health services in primary care settings. Currently teaching biology courses with emphasis on human health applications, Dr. Beuker offers expert commentary on microbiology, infectious diseases, immunology, and the connections between human behavior and health outcomes.
