Dr. Ravi Inder Kaur is a sociologist with a PhD focusing on gender studies, community studies, and sociology of law, with particular expertise in law and women's issues. Before immigrating to Canada in 2020, she taught sociology at undergraduate and post-graduate levels and has continued this work at Bow Valley College for 2.5 years. Her research with the Canadian Poverty Institute addresses poverty and intersectionality, while her teaching encompasses Introduction to Sociology, Sociology of Family, Sociology of Aging, and Women and Gender Studies. Dr. Kaur has extensive knowledge of gender and family issues in Canada, Indigenous women's issues, criminal justice system challenges, intimate partner violence, and victimology. With a strong background in debate and presentation through her academic career, she confidently articulates complex social issues and is available for expert commentary on gender studies, Canadian family dynamics, social justice, and intersectional approaches to poverty and law.
