
Dr. Zahra Shire is a cancer biology researcher with over 15 years of translational and clinical research experience at leading universities and research institutes in both Canada and the United States. Holding a PhD in Oncology from the University of Alberta, Shire has developed a strong passion for innovation and applying scientific solutions to real-world health challenges. Her expertise bridges research, innovation, and technology commercialization—she holds a U.S. patent and has contributed to early-stage technology development and commercialization pathways. In her current role as Manager of Applied Research for Health & Health Tech at Bow Valley College, Shire focuses on translating research into meaningful community impact through community-based research partnerships. Her background in moving research from laboratory concept to real-world application positions her as an expert on health innovation, healthcare technology development, and the intersection of academia and industry in advancing health solutions.
