Course Description

This course studies Canada’s criminal justice system from the perspective of an offender moving through it. Students examine the structure and jurisdictions of the three levels of government, as well as the roles of police, courts, and correctional agencies. Key topics include sentencing philosophies, correctional institutions, community corrections, diversion, discretion, limits of authority, and key decision points throughout the system.
