Courses are commonly scheduled over a term of study. A typical term of study is four months long. Some courses are scheduled in a condensed format over a shorter period of time (between 1 to 2 months). View the program page of the program you're interested in to learn more about program duration.

Your full-time or part-time status is determined by your credit load (the total number of credits you take across a full term). Some fees may vary depending on whether you're a full-time or part-time student. Minimum course loads:
Full time - Registration in a minimum of 3 courses that are worth 3 credits each. 9 credits per term is required to maintain full-time student status. This is required for all international students.
Part time - Registration in fewer than 3 courses per term (if your program's full-time load is 5 courses) is considered a 60% course load, meaning you're classified as part-time.
Most clinical, preceptorship, or practicum placements are considered full-time, regardless of credit load.
Students who register into the Academic Upgrading program complete a placement process when they apply. They are either provided a course placement from a review of Canadian high school transcripts from within the past seven years or they write the Bow Valley College Placement Test. Once this step is complete, applicants receive an email update that includes a list of courses they are eligible to register for. Meeting with an Academic Advisor to plan your course selection towards your goal is strongly recommended.
