Business Administration - Supply Chain Management Major

Every business depends on the movement of goods and services. Supply chain professionals play a critical role in making sure this flow is efficient, cost-effective, and reliable. In this major, you’ll gain skills in procurement, logistics, transportation, supplier relations, and inventory management—equipping you to support a company’s operational success.

Time Commitment

‍This is a two-year (four-term) diploma program.  A standard course load is five courses per Fall or Winter term, though full-time status can be maintained with a minimum of three courses per Fall or Winter term. For students enrolled in the condensed Spring 2026 (May to June) or Summer 2026 (July to August) terms, it is recommended that you do not exceed two courses per term.

Taking fewer courses will extend your completion time.

Pathway Opportunities

• University of Lethbridge and Bow Valley College Integrated Pathway: A new and unique program that will train students for the high-demand profession of supply chain management. The Business and Supply Chain Management integrated pathway program will see students earn a Business Administration Diploma with a major in supply chain management through Bow Valley College and a Bachelor of Management with a major in general management through the University of Lethbridge’s Dhillon School of Business.
• University Transfer: Graduates may also transfer into SAIT’s Bachelor of Business Administration degree, Supply Chain Management major (subject to acceptance).
• Pathway Articulation with University of Fredericton: The University of Fredericton (UFred) recognizes Bow Valley College’s Business Administration Diploma – Supply Chain Management Major as equivalent to the first two years of study in UFred’s Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) program.
  Graduates of Bow Valley College’s Supply Chain Management major are eligible for admission directly into Year 3 of UFred’s Bachelor of Business Administration program, providing a streamlined pathway to complete their bachelor’s degree.

PGWP Eligibility

‍This program is eligible for a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) under the Classification of Instructional Programs (CIP) code 52.0203 – Supply Chain Management. International students can confirm eligibility by consulting the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) website.

Bow Valley College's Supply Chain Management is accredited with Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) designation issued by Supply Chain Canada. This accreditation reflects the program's alignment with national standards and its role in preparing students for careers in the supply chain profession.

Graduates with strong performance in their courses (grade of B or higher) may be eligible for exemptions from several modules and workshops in the Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) designation program, including:

• Module 2: Procurement (SCMT2301)
• Module 3: Logistics & Transportation (SCMT2401)
• Module 4: Operations Management I (SCMT2201)
• Module 6: Global Logistics and International Trade (SCMT2303)
• Workshop 1: Introduction to Management (MGMT1101)
• Workshop 2: Negotiation Skills (SCMT2302)
• Workshop 3: Business Communication (MGMT1201)
• Workshop 6: Introduction to Organizations and Sustainability (MGMT1102)

To complete the SCMP designation, graduates must also finish the remaining modules, workshops, In-Residence Week, and Final Examination as required by SCMA.

The Business Administration diploma includes both core business and major-specific courses. Classes are available in person and online, though not all courses may be offered online each semester. For some courses, midterms and final exams must be completed in person or at an approved invigilation site. Academic Advisors are available to help you plan your pathway.
