I am on a waitlist for my preferred start date. Will my application automatically move to the next start date?

No, applications do not carry forward from the waitlist. If you are unable to obtain a seat in your program by the time the program starts, your application is closed and you must reapply with a new application for a new start date.

How long does my application take to assess?

For domestic students it can take between 2 to 4 weeks, and for international students it can take between 6 to 8 weeks for assessment.

How do I know if I qualify for admission?

Many programs at Bow Valley College offer students multiple pathways to qualify for admission. These include, but are not limited to, reviewing transcripts from previous high school/secondary education and/or any post-secondary education you've completed, completing a Bow Valley College Admissions Test, submitting test results from the GED exam or CAEC exam, submitting a letter of intent and resume as a mature student applicant, and more!

How do I know if I am accepted?

You will receive email communication from Admissions regarding your acceptance or decision. If you are an International applicant, please refer to your VAS portal for all updates regarding your application.

How do I apply to the upgrading program?

Applications to the Upgrading program are completed online through the ApplyAlberta application system. Applications open 4 months in advance of a start date. Visit here to begin your application.

How do I apply to an Open Studies course?

Open Studies registration is completed through the Bow Valley College website and does not require you to apply for admission! Instead, simply visit the web page of the course you want to take, and select the offering that best suits your needs. Registration opens two (2) months prior to the start of the term.

How do I apply to an Extended Education Certificate of Achievement or course?

Extended Education non-credit course registration is completed through the Bow Valley College website and does not require you to apply for admission! Instead, simply visit the web page of the course you want to take, and select the offering that best suits your needs. Registration closes 24 to 48 hours prior to the course start date.

How do I apply to a certificate, diploma, or post-diploma certificate program?

Applications to career college programs, like certificates, diplomas, and post-diploma certificate programs, are completed online. Domestic students apply through the ApplyAlberta application system while international students apply through the VAS application system. Application dates and timelines can vary by program.
