Captain Canuck may not have emerged to vanquish unnamedthreats to Canada’s sovereignty, but it was nonetheless a fantabulous four daysfor Bow Valley College at the Calgary Comics & Entertainment Expo.
The college presence at the Expo was a collaborationbetween Digital Entertainment Nexus (DEN), Centre for Entertainment Arts (CEA),and Marketing and Recruitment teams, featuring employees and students alike –an all-in effort aimed at reminding Calgary that Bow Valley College is a playerin the creative and entertainment spaces.
Bow Valley College’s booth at the Expo provided someout-of-this world immersive experiences. A ten-foot volume video wall projectedvivid digital backgrounds that guests could use to capture movie star photomoments.
The booth also proudly displayed the work of amazing CEAstudents on LG TVs.
Bow Valley College hosted five panels at the Expo:
· From Make Believe to Making it Happen
· Turning Dreams into Reality: A FiresideChat with Indie Game Developers about how to launch a career in the gamingindustry
· Video Games in Education

These panels provided a chance to connect with potentialstudents and partners and raise awareness of the incredible things happening atthe college.
Not to be left out of the excitement, our Bow Valley College Bears varsity team fielded some incredible players –RM8, CoffeeMaker, Diogo, and Savannah – to turn back the challenges of some 100Expo attendees who took them on in Super Smash Bros. and Mario Kart battles forprizes and bragging rights.
There were no hard feelings (that weknow of).
It was a tremendous weekend for sharingmore about the Bow Valley College story, while weaving a new chapter in its ownheroic tale.
We would otherwise say we can’t waituntil next year (and it’s true!), but there are so many more frames to befilled between now and then. To be continued...
